Hacking Giants Through a Race Condition in GitHub Actions Artifacts
Documents how GitHub Actions build artifacts leak credentials: the checkout action persists the ephemeral GITHUB_TOKEN into .git and a popular linter logs environment variables, so uploading a whole workspace publishes the token. Version 4 of artifacts allows download while a run is in progress, opening a race in which the token is used before the job ends; branches were created in major vendors' repositories, and a runtime token allowed artifacts to be swapped.
